Neil McDaniel Photography & Cinematography
High-Definition Production

One of the latest and most challenging projects has been work on the High-Definition natural history documentary series, The Blue Realm. This exciting new program currently includes four one-hour shows, entitled "Shark Business," "Tentacles," "Giants of San Benedicto" and "Miracle Venom."

Neil has been an integral part of the production since its inception by Producers Danny Mauro (producer of Sport Diver Television and Undersea Explorer) and Tom Campbell (Tom Campbell's Film & Video Productions) three years ago. He has provided expertise as cinematographer and script consultant and is the Associate Producer of the series.

The Blue Realm has been shot exclusively in High-Definition, a video format with unsurpassed clarity and colour reproduction, producing stunning images of all manner of marine life. Sony High-Definition cameras in combination with Amphibico state-of-the-art underwater housings have opened a whole new world to documentary filmmakers.

Production of the four programs took our HD crews to all corners of the world, including Australia, Bonaire, South Africa, Mexico, British Columbia, Papua New Guinea, the Bahamas and Florida. Many of the behavioural sequences captured in the series have never been seen before, a tribute to the hard work of our dedicated crews.

The Blue Realm is scheduled to air on Wild Discovery/The Best of Discovery throughout 2004. See your local television listings for air dates and times, or contact The Discovery Channel for playdates.
